Oct 10 Sun 8AM KEALIA
(7 Mi/Intermediate/Graded Hillside/Mokule'ia)

(12 Mi/Advanced/Ridge/Kalihi)
Named after Army Colonel Donald S. Bowman, Commander of Fort Shafter during World War I, HTMC has hiked this difficult ungraded ridge annually since the 1920's, longer than any other trail on O'ahu. Coordinator Arnold Fujioka, ph 625-9431.

Oct 23 Sat 8AM HANAUMA-HALONA
(3 Mi/Novice/Shoreline/Hanauma)
This route follows the shoreline shelf between Hanauma Bay and the blowhole at Halona Point. Use caution when this close to the unpredictable ocean; always keep an eye on the water. Coordinator Joyce Tomlinson, ph 674-1459.

Oct 24 Sun 8AM WAILUPE GULCH
(6Mi/Intermediate/Ridge/Aina Haina)
This valley-ridge combo has it all: a pleasant valley stroll; a stiff ridge climb; a summit tightrope walk. Watch the ribbons religiously, or you could end up in some millionaire's backyard. Coordinators Judy & Kim Roy, ph 988-5372.

Oct 30 Sat 8AM PU'U MA'ELI'ELI
(3 Mi/Novice/Ridge/Kahalu'u)
A great little hike! A relatively new approach for the club to this hike, starting from He'eia State Park. We do a rather short climb to the top of the ridge where there is an old World War II bunker. We get expansive views of Kane'ohe Bay with its multi-hued waters. Coordinators Miles & Maureen Brubacher, ph 261-7814.

Oct 30 Sat 3PM, Clubhouse Gear Expo / Swap Meet / Barbeque / Slide Show

Barbeque your favorite recipes while seeing the latest hiking, backpacking, and camping gear. Some of our most avid backpackers will display their equipment--see how the "minimalists" do it. And if your closets are filled to the brim with gear you no longer use, exploit this opportunity to line your pockets with extra cash while offering your compadres good deals on used gear! And to top-off the day, Kim & Judy Roy and several others will give a slide show of their kayaking adventure to the Na Pali Coast of Kaua'i and their backpaking expedition to the Sierra-Nevadas. Be there or be square!

Oct 31 Sun 8AM MEMBERS ONLY KO'OLAU SURPRISE
(4 Mi/Advanced/Ridge/Makapu'u)
This hot, dry hike scrambles up and down some steep narow ridges. The descent follows an old Hawaiian trail named after its two rediscoverers. Coordinator Stuart Ball, ph 247-5380.

Nov 7 Sun 8AM WAIMALU DITCH
(6 Mi/Intermediate/Valley/Waimalu)
The hike follows an old ditch trail into Waimalu Valley. At the second and
eighth stream crossings are cool, inviting swimming holes. Keep your head
down through the hau tangles. Coordinator Steve Brown, phone 836-4940.

Nov 13 Sat 8AM PALI FALLS
(4 Mi/Novice/Graded Hillside/Nu'uanu Pali)
A short novice hike starts from the Pali lookout. We hike down the Old Pali Road and duck under the Pali Highway, continue on an old section of the Pali Road. A contour trail takes us to our destination. After lunch at the picturesque waterfall, we return to our cars via the same route. Coordinator Donna Davis-Brown, ph 422-7830.

Nov 14 Sun 8AM MEMBERS ONLY THREE CORNERS
(8 Mi/Intermediate/Ridge/Mokule'ia)
Its called Three Corners, a broad hill at 2,600 feet elevation where three valleys meet on the Wai'anae Range. It features spectacular vistas to the west of Makua Valley and the Leeward Coast, to the north of Mokule'ia and the north shore, and to the south of Mount Ka'ala - O'ahu's highest point. We will start near Dillingham Ranch, ascend through dryland forest, and traverse the Makua Rim in route to this fabulous panorama. Coordinator Patrick Rorie, ph 676-2748.

Nov 21 Sun 8AM MEMBERS ONLY PU'U MANAMANA
(6 Mi/Advanced/Ridge/Ka'a'awa)
This narrow ridge hike is a roller coaster ride with thrills, chills and, hopefully, no spills. Everyone is a screamer down the slippery, moss-covered ridge. The ride ends appropriately at a graveyard. Coordinators Jay Feldman, ph 262-9596 and Wil Kawano, ph 373-1492.

Nov 25 Thu 11AM Clubhouse - Pot Birdee VI, Thanksgiving Dinner
Come join the gang for a great feast. Lynn Agena has kindly offered to cook the turkey this year. So bring your favorite other dishes, trimmins or fixins. The meal is at noon, so come early to gab before gobbling. Phone Nathan at 685-1764 to reserve a spot and to insure that we don't end up with all desserts.

Nov 27 Sat 8AM KA'ENA POINT
(4 Mi/Novice/Shoreline/Ka'ena)
A very mellow, windy, wild coastline hike taking you pass the nesting habitats of the booby birds, the famed jumping-off rock of the spirits into the netherworld, and finishes at the northernmost point with its automated lone, lighted beacon. Coordinator Phil Booth, ph 627-1693.

Nov 28 Sun 7AM PU'U HELEAKALA
(6 Mi/Advanced/Ridge/Nanakuli)
This hot dry one requires lots of water (2-3 liters) and lots of energy to complete, but the views and sense of accomplishment are worth it. Coordinator Fred Dodge, ph 696-4677.

Dec 5 Sun 8AM PAUOA WOODS
(6 Mi/Intermediate/Ridge-Valley/Tantalus)
As usual, insted of following the standard tantalus trails, we have to be odd, deviant, and convoluted. Ups and downs, woods and waterfalls abound on this interesting and varied loop. Don't step on the pipe, but don't fall downslope, either. Coordinator (odd? deviant?) John Hall, ph 377-5442.

Dec 11 Sat 8AM MEMBERS ONLY PU'U O KILA SUPER HIKE RESERVATIONS REQUIRED: LIMIT OF 15; PARTICIPANTS SCREENED AND APPROVED BY THE HIKE COORDINATOR
(6 Mi/Advanced/Valley-Ridge/Kahana)
And you thought the broad pleasant promise of Kahana Valley offered only leisurely streamside rambles. Ha! Will you be surprised! This gem runs the gamut from novice to advanced, and the pinnacle of our success requires a sure foot and a steady eye on the practically vertical ridge. Go as far as you want, but know that we will keep track of those who go all the way. Coordinator Dayle Turner, ph 455-0414.

Dec 12 Sun 8AM WAI'ANAE KAI

Dec 19 Sun 8AM MEMBERS ONLY PU'U O KONA
(6 Mi/Intermediate/Ridge/Kuli'ou'ou)
Hazards: steep drop offs, narrow sections. This loop hike will take you up a ridge, down into a valley, up a steep ridge, then the summit walk to Pu'u O Kona, and a final ridge descent back to civilization. Coordinator Mike Algiers, ph 422-1048.

(7 Mi/Advanced/Ridge/Schofield)
A very perilous hike with narrow rock dikes, steep dropoffs, craggy spires, abounding with blackberry thickets as you near the summit. But her voluptuous views make up for these risks. Coordinator Dave Sanford, ph 488-4419.
