Jan 16 Sat 9AM KA'ENA POINT
(4 Mi/Novice/Shoreline/Ka'ena)

Feb 6 Sat 8AM MAKAPU'U POINT
(2 Mi/Novice/Hillside/Makapu'u)

Starting at the Rabbit Island lookout we ascend the rocky cliff trail to the World War II bunkers, where the view is spectacular. The observation platforms at the point are great for whale watching. Starting at the towering pines of Wa'ahila State Park, the trail provides a good workout as Wa'ahila Ridge climbs and drops as it snakes to the Ko'olau Summit. Once past the Kolowalu junction, the trail narrows and the climb gets steeper with drops offs that urge caution. Good weather will permit views of the Windward Coast and Honolulu. Hopefully, HECO will not yet have cleared the ridge for its high voltage line corridor. Coordinator Grant Oka, ph 674-1459.
