No Meeting @ Palace

(11 Mi/Advanced/Ridge/Moanalua)

This rugged hike loops around the back of Moanalua Valley, including a summit crossover. Half the walk is along a dirt road, but the other half is out of this world. Come see why this is one of our signature hikes. Coordinators Kris Corliss & Larry Oswald, ph 638-7268.

Oct 14 Sun 8AM PAUOA WOODS

(6 Mi/Intermediate/Ridge-Valley/Tantalus)

Experience the beauty and lush foliage on this town hike.  But take care to follow your coordinator’s instructions so you don’t get sidetracked by the views, foliage, or intersecting trails.  This is no walk in the park, so be prepared for rain, mud and mosquitoes. Coordinator Doug Klein, ph 263-8330.

Oct 20 Sat 8AM MÄLAEKAHANA LOOP

(5 Mi/Intermediate/Ridge-Valley/Läçie)

This pleasant hike follows the streambed back into the lush lower valley, before climbing a low ridge for the return portion of the loop. There are several junctions, so enjoy the scenery, but pay attention to the trail markers! Coordinators Dayle & Jacque Turner, ph 384-4821 or turner@hawaii.edu.

Oct 28 Sun 8AM KEALIÄ

(9 Mi/Intermediate/Graded Hillside/Mokulëçia)

Coordinator Peter Kempf, ph 384-2221 or 735-2220.

Nov 3 Sat 8AM KALUANUI RIDGE

(3 Mi/Novice/Ridge/Hawaii Kai)

One of the easiest jaunts to the Ko’olau Summit requires a bit of huffing and puffing on the uphills, but the views of Waimanalo and Olomana in the distance are well worth it. Coordinators Thea Ferentinos, ph 375-0384 & Justin Ohara.

Nov 4 Sun 8AM MEMBERS ONLY POAMOHO

Reservations Required – Limited # of Hikers – No meeting @ Palace

(8 Mi/Intermediate/Contour/Wahiawä)

(7 Mi/Intermediate/Contour/Pearl City)

pleasant contour trail, but it's gonna be MUDDY! Coordinator Steve Rohrmayr,
ph 696-4746.

Nov 17 Sat 8AM WAIMANO TUNNELS

(5 Mi/Intermediate/Contour/Pearl City)

After a lovely valley stroll, we go underground through two short, but pitch dark ditch tunnels built in 1912. Those without flashlights may be in for some hard knocks and wet feet. Coordinator Steve Brown, ph 247-8845.

No Meeting @ Palace - Call Coordinator for Rendezvous Info

(7 Mi/Advanced/Ridge/Mokulëia)

Nov 18 Sun 8AM MEMBERS ONLY KULEPEAMOA RIDGE
No Meeting @ Palace Call Coordinator for Rendezvous Info
(6 Mi/Advanced/Ridge/Niu Valley)
A pleasant valley stroll leads to a windswept ridge and a catwalk along the
Ko'olau summit. Return is via Hawai'i Loa with its slippery steps and its

endangered native bird. Coordinator Darrell Teruya, ph 227-4572.

Nov 25 Sun 8AM WAIMALU DITCH

Dec 1 Sat 8AM KAENA POINT

Take a walk on the wild side, the last frontier on Oahu. Families are welcome. Coordinator Phil Booth, ph 382-4709.

Dec 2 Sun 8AM MEMBERS ONLY CASTLE

Reservations Required, Limit of 50 – No meeting at the Palace. Reservations taken beginning Monday November 19 at 8 am.

(12 Mi/Advanced/Ridge-Contour/Punaluu)

This old timers' favorite returns to the schedule after a 22 year absence. Climb the eight, great switchbacks to the  windswept notch and upper Kaluanui Stream. Coordinator Stuart Ball, ph 247-5380.

Dec 9 Sun 8AM HÄLAWA RIDGE

(14 Mi/Advanced/Ridge/Hälawa)

You’ll need all your lungs and legs from the get-go. There is a lengthy and uphill approach to this historic CCC contour trail. The trail gets a little overgrown and gnarly after the landslide area. Coordinator Arnold Fujioka, ph 551-0227.

Dec 16 Sun 8AM WAILUPE LOOP

(6 Mi/Intermediate/Ridge/Äina Haina)

This physically demanding hike begins deceivingly level and inviting, but soon becomes an increasingly steep and taxing climb to the Koolau summit. The summit is crossed on a razor thin ridge, before the return descent, which is even steeper than the ascent. It'll leave you "loopy"! Coordinator Mike Algiers, ph 422-1048.

Dec 23 Sun 9AM MEMBERS ONLY OLOMANA

No Meeting @ Palace – Call Coordinator for Rendezvous Info

(3 Mi/Intermediate/Ridge/Olomana)

What is so irresistible about Olomana? Is it the towering crag of the first peak or the terror of the third? Or maybe the fabulous panoramic view from Makapuu to Mokolii? Whatever -- it is our traditional Christmas hike, that’s a good enough reason to hike it. Coordinator Laura Owens, ph 388-5373.
