Apr 1 Sun 2PM ANNUAL MEETING
Once again it’s that time of year when we tend to the business side of things....the Annual Membership meeting! Likely issues on the agenda are, approval of the renovation plans for the Clubhouse, approval of the new Endowment Fund Committee, various changes to the by-laws, the election of new Board members, and possibly an increase in the membership dues! Lots of weighty issues, so plan on attending and casting your vote to help determine HTMC's future direction! A surprise announcement is planned, of particular interest to all HTMC members.

Climb into the clouds on this short but very steep slope. The Ka’ala bog is one of O’ahu’s most unique treasures. This aerobically challenging hike also requires extra caution due to some very steep sections with severe drop-offs. Coordinator Arnold Fujioka, ph 551-0227.
Apr 15 Sun 8AM MOANALUA
(10 Mi/Intermediate/Valley/Moanalua)
A long road walk leads you deep into the valley before plunging onto a forest trail. There are so many stream crossings you'll lose count, and then a very steep climb takes you to a high saddle overlooking the windward side. Keep your eyes peeled along the way for the petroglyphs and aircraft wreckage. Coordinator Mike Algiers, ph 422-1048.
Apr 21 Sat 8AM ‘AHUIMANU
(2 Mi/Novice/Valley/Kahalu’u)
This is a nice "trek through the taro terraces" of olden days long gone. A few educational signs describe this area's former importance. A good family hike that sometimes has a refreshing pool at the lunch site. Bring mosquito repellent! Coordinator Steve Brown, ph 247-8845.

No Meeting @ Palace – Call Coordinator for Rendezvous Info

Enjoy a loop hike with a stiff climb to a windswept ridge and a narrow summit crossing. If this hike is for you, pay attention to your footing and the trail markings down a slippery staircase, and a guava free fall to a quiet valley. Coordinator Darrell Teruya, phone 227-4572.
May 13 Sun 8AM KUOLANI-WAIANU
(5 Mi/Intermediate/Contour/Waiahole)
Enjoy Hawaii’s lush vegetation, streams, views, and experience the excitement of crossing the top of a waterfall. This hike has them all. Wear a good pair of shoes for the four stream crossings, mud, and slippery rocks. Coordinator Justin Ohara, ph 778-8629.
May 19 Sat 8AM TANTALUS RAMBLE
(5 Mi/Intermediate/Ridge/Tantalus)
Who knows which way we'll ramble. It all depends on the leader's disposition! Do ya' feel lucky? This is a good test of your hiking savvy. Follow the ribbons CLOSELY, and you'll enjoy yourself no matter where the leader goes! Coordinator John Hall, ph 377-5442.
May 20 Sun 8AM MEMBERS ONLY BOWMAN
(12 Mi/Advanced/Ridge/Kalihi)
This long, undulating trail parallels the Likelike freeway, but is so much more tranquil and picturesque. It isn't an easy trail, and requires a commitment of time and energy, but eventually rewards you with grand views of the windward coast, and a sense of accomplishment. (Watch for the critical junctions!) Coordinator Patrick Rorie, ph 676-2748.
May 27 Sun 8AM ‘AIEA RIDGE
(12 Mi/Advanced/Ridge/’Aiea)
After a short jaunt along the loop trail, we head up the rugged ridge route to the Ko’olau summit. In 1935, the CCC partially smoothed out the path, but it still has plenty of ups and downs before reaching the top and a stunning view of windward O’ahu. Coordinator Mike Mottl, ph 254-6360.

Or, if a leisurely contour trail sounds appealing, Joyce and Grant would love the company. As we all start together on the dirt Drum Road near the Boy Scout camp, the difficulty of trail that you choose depends on whom you follow.

Is that a Greek god I see standing on Mt Olympus!!?? No, it’s just Larry Lee!! He will lead us on this “fave” town trail up to the Ko’olau Summit, where views abound. Caution is advised on some sections near the summit, where the trail is narrow with steep drop-offs. Wa’ahila State Park (our start and end point) is a wonderful cool place for an “after hike” picnic or get-together. Coordinator Larry Lee, phone 263-4690.
