(5 Mi/Intermediate/Ridge-Valley/Lä'ie)
A combination of long dirt roads (boring), hot steep hillsides (grueling), and tight tunnels of guava (claustrophobic), takes you half way to the Ko'olau Summit, before descending steeply into a dark mysterious valley. You are eventually rewarded by the appearance of a stream, and two delightful waterfalls with inviting plunge pools...a pleasant place to take your lunch and a cooling dip, before returning the way you came. Coordinator Peter Kempf, ph 384-2221 or 735-2220.

Listen carefully to the coordinator’s instructions. Your 2-way radio may be useful to navigate the numerous trail intersections. Coordinator Mike Mottl, ph 254-6360.
Oct 22 Sun 8AM WAIMALU DITCH
(6 Mi/Intermediate/Valley/Waimalu)

Oct 29 Sun 8AM WAILUPE LOOP
(6 Mi/Intermediate/Ridge/Äina Haina)
Another of those steep ridge ascents without switchbacks, to a grand view of the windward side. Then a narrow summit crossing, where vigilance is required. A steep descent on the opposite ridge closes the loop.
Coordinator Mike Algiers, ph 422-1048.
Nov 4 Sat 8AM WAIMANO TUNNELS

Bring a potluck dish to share (we have about 50 people who attend) OR pay $7.00 per person. We’ll provide grilled steak and chicken.
