(6 Mi/Intermediate/Valley/Kahana)
Kahana Valley State Park is a lush windward valley with a loop trail that rambles through the forest, across streams and swimming holes, past WWII concrete bunkers and more forest. No Meeting @ Palace - Meet @ Kualoa Ranch visitors parking lot
(8 Mi/Intermediate/Valley/Hakipu'u-Ka'a'awa)
We may get confused on the maze of jeep roads leading up Hakipu'u Valley, but all roads lead to a low saddle that will take us over a muddy, steep trail into spectacular Ka'a'awa Valley, filming site of Jurassic Park and other movies. Aside from the climb over the saddle, the hike is on jeep roads and easy walking - almost a novice hike but for the length. Bring $5.00 extra for the fee to the ranch. We may be able to visit the photo gallery in the old military bunkers near the end of the hike. Coordinator John Hall, ph 377-5442.Jul 31 Sun 8AM MANANA
(12 Mi/Advanced/Ridge/Pacific Palisades)
Manana, mañana? No, Manana today. But if you don't keep up a good pace on this long ridge hike, you will come out tomorrow. Coordinator Mike Fujita, ph 550-2535. or mikefujita@yahoo.comAug 6 Sat 8AM KALAUAO
(5 Mi/Intermediate/Valley/'Aiea)
Tired of doing the same old 'Aiea Loop Trail? Well here's a variation which will take you down to the stream, and lead you to a pool with a pretty waterfall. Coordinator Phil Booth, ph 382-4709.Aug 7 Sun 8:30AM MEMBERS ONLY KAHEKILI

(6 Mi/Advanced/Ridge/Ka'a'awa)
It's distraction to the max with its sweeping ocean views when hiking this steep, treacherous trail; stay focused! If the water's flowing at the top, you'll find a waterfall where you can stop for lunch with a view or you can continue your meandering far into the hidden valley. Coordinator Ralph Valentino, ph 864-8130.Aug 13 Sat CLUBHOUSE POTLUCK/SLIDE SHOW
5:00 pm Potluck
7:00 pm Slide Show
Join your hiking friends for a potluck/cookout at our Waimanalo clubhouse. Just for variety, we're going to have Mexican night, so wear your sombrero and bring your favorite Mexican dish. Those of you who don't have a Mexican recipe can bring whatever you like. We'll have chips and salsa, grilled onions and bell peppers, and tortilla shells to make Fajitas. Then don your parkas, mukluks, and oxygen masks, as we accompany Clem Aleka-Gorai into the frozen realm of ice, snow and thin air. His exciting slide show will document his attempt to climb Mt McKinley in Alaska, the highest mountain in North America (20,300 ft). Call Pam Scott at 741-4493 or email (preferred) her at HTMCentertainment @verizon.net, to let us know what dish you will be bringing or whether you'll be contributing $7 toward the food. Non members pay an additional $2 to attend. (bring your own soda, juice etc.)Aug 14 Sun 8AM WAI'ANAE KAI
(6 Mi/Intermediate/Ridge/Valley/Wai'anae)
Become one with the trail as you hike this short, undulating loop trail located in the bosom of Mt. Ka'ala. Follow the coordinator's trail instructions because there are some cutoffs that could lead you astray where you'd end up rock climbing the loose craggy cliffs of Mt. Ka'ala. Coordinator "Wai'anae" Steve Rohrmayr, ph 696-4746.Aug 20 Sat 6PM KA'IWA RIDGE

We will get to it via a pleasant valley stroll, a breathtaking climb to the crest of the Ko'olau Range and a half mile stretch along the fabled Ko'olau Summit Trail. Coordinator Stuart Ball, ph 247-5380.Aug 27 Sat CLUBHOUSE WORKDAY

MALAEKAHANA LOOP
(5 Mi/Intermediate/Ridge-Valley/La'ie)
Coordinator Laura Owens, ph 595-9023.
Here's something different...a "double header"! Two hikes on the same day, with two coordinators, starting from the same trailhead. But choose only one. The easier "Loop" hike meanders into a wooded valley following a winding stream, then climbs a small hill and loops back to the start. The more strenuous "Pools" hike climbs a steep ridge nearly to the summit, then plunges into the valley, to a pair of waterfalls and plunge pools. Take a cooling dip before returning by the same route. Either hike is a winner!Oct 2 Sun 8:30AM MEMBERS ONLY PU'U O KILA
