- May 11 Sun 8AM KEALIA
(7 Mi/Intermediate/Graded Hillside/Mokule'ia)

of the opposite coastline. Coordinators Kris Corliss and Larry
Oswald, ph 638-7268.

(MEMBERS ONLY, RESERVATIONS REQUIRED: LIMIT OF 10, PARTICIPANTS
SCREENED AND APPROVED BY TRIP COORDINATOR)
(16 Mi/Masochist/Ridge-Valley/South shore to north shore, Wailau
Valley, Moloka'i)
Wailau means "many waters" in Hawaiian, but it might
as well mean "great adventure". The trip starts out
pretty tame but once at the summit, the route plunges down the
steep windward pali into the worst infestation of clidemia in
the Hawaiian Islands. But don't despair, a remote black sand
beach, framed by vertical sea cliffs awaits the intrepid backpacker.
Coordinator Patrick Rorie, ph 676-2748.
-
- May 25 Sun 8AM KUOLANI-WAIANU

PAUAO RIDGE

(6 Mi/Advanced/Valley-Ridge/Kahana)
We follow the imposing ridge that divides Kahana and Punalu'u
Valleys. Our goal is a rusted baby stroller, perhaps abandoned
on a long ago promenade when the Summit Trail was a sidewalk.
While "strolling" up the ridge, look for 'apapane and
'amakihi. Coordinator Mike Algiers, ph 422-1048.
-
- Jun 7 Sat 8AM NU'UANU

- Jun 8 Sun 8AM WAIMALU UKA
(7 Mi/Intermediate/Valley-Ridge/Waimalu)
This rather recent addition to the hike schedule, also known
to some as Onikiniki, is a looping ridge hike. It starts as a
contour ditch trail and then rambles up and down through some
pristine (and some not so pristine) native vegetation. Good views,
good plants, good workout. Coordinator Wil Kawano, ph 373-1492.
-
- Jun 14 Sat 6:30PM KA'IWA RIDGE
(3 Mi/Novice/Ridge/Lanikai)

-
- Jun 22 Sun 8AM TREASURE HUNT
(? Mi/Intermediate/?/?)
Join us for a different kind of event. There will be some hiking
involved, along with puzzle solving. Teams will compete to be
the first to find and solve all the clues. Some knowledge of
the trails of O'ahu is helpful. Since part of the initial task
is to determine where to go on the island, no information will
be provided beforehand about the general location. Coordinator
Steve Brown, ph 247-8845.
-

silverswords. Coordinator Grant Oka, ph 674-1459
-

her waterhole down at the stream. Coordinator Ralph Valentino,
